About Sydney Bunting, J.D.
Sydney is a family law lawyer and mediator. She represents and advises clients on all issues related to family law, including: cohabitation and marriage contracts (also known as prenuptial agreements), separation and divorce, parenting time and decision-making responsibility (previously referred to as custody and access), child and spousal support, and division of family property.
In her years practicing family law, Sydney has litigated at the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, and at the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta. She tailors her approach to best serve each client’s unique goals, and she can move skillfully between negotiation, mediation, and litigation, as required.
Prior to founding Bunting Family Law, Sydney worked exclusively at prominent family law firms in Toronto. Sydney is immersed in the family law community and her expertise has been featured in The Globe and Mail, she has co-authored a chapter in LGBTQ2+ Law: Practice Issues and Analysis, entitled “Children and Youth Legal Issues," and she has assisted the Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund with their important intervenor work.
Sydney holds a Juris Doctor from Queen’s University and Bachelor of Arts Degree with Distinction from the University of Alberta. She is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Advocates’ Society, the Ontario Association for Family Mediation, and the Law Society of Ontario.
